Ada Lovelace, (1815-1852) was an English Mathematician and writer. She was best known for her work on the Analytical Engine, generally considered to be the first computer.
She was the first to recognize that the mechanical general purpose computer had applications beyond pure calculation, and published the first algorithm intended to be carried out by such a machine.
As a result, she is sometimes regarded as the first to recognize the full potential of a "computing machine" and the first computer programmer.
In modern day, she is held as a true icon of STEM, and even has a dedicated computer language called "Ada"!
