Microbiology Dress

Celebrate the beauty of science in this cheerful microbiology dress!  Print features scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of cells of yeast (Saccharomyces species) arranged in a butterfly inspired pattern. Species of Saccharomyces yeast are used to make sourdough, beer, wine, fuel, and many medications. It is also a favorite of many biotechnology labs.

This dress was originally made in collaboration with Microbiologist, Inventor and Science Communicator Dr. Anne A. Madden (Pictured wearing the dress in the associated photos) and with images provided by colleagues at Mississippi State University).

Fabric is durable, opaque, 4-way stretch. 88% poly 12% Lycra. Manufactured and custom printed with eco-friendly inks in USA. Sewn by hand and made to order by artisan tailor in California.

Comfortable, great for travel, and it inspires so many compliments!

The design is beautiful with scientists registering it as yeast and the general public often mistaking it for beautiful butterflies. I get SO many compliments whenever I wear this. The material also lends itself to travel (perfect for a scientist on the go!) as it doesn't wrinkle, it dries quickly, and it's light-weight. A perfect dress for doing science in the lab, giving research talks, kicking butt in a board room, traveling the world, visiting a brewery, or lounging about the home in style.
