Rosalind Franklin Dress

Rosalind Elsie Franklin was an English chemist and X-ray crystallographer who made contributions to the understanding of the molecular structures of DNA, RNA  virusescoal, and graphite.

Although her works on coal and viruses were appreciated in her lifetime, her contributions to the discovery of the structure of DNA were largely recognized posthumously.

Franklin is best known for her work on the X-ray diffraction images of DNA, particularly Photo 51. Franklin was never nominated for a Nobel Prize, even though her work was crucial to the discovery of the structure of DNA.

This vintage inspired yet modern Women in STEM Tribute Dress features her photo 51 in a classic polka-dot style print, a popular look during the 40's and 50's.

      Stylish AND comfortable

This is a beautifully nerdy dress for someone who works with x-rays. The fabrics are great, and the black insets on the side feel nice and soft and somehow cotton-y. Very much suited for people who need comfortable clothes that also look good! Because it has no sleeves, it works really well with black longsleeves or T-shirts underneath (yey for more versatility).
If you live in Europe, getting it through customs will cost you time and extra money, but it's totally worth it. And if you are short like me (165cm or 5ft5), you might have to shorten it by about two inches, so it ends up right at the knee and not below. The curse of really short legs... Otherwise the fit is great and if in doubt, trust Holly Renee with her judgement, it's spot on.
And the only reason this doesn't have five stars is because pockets would make it perfekt.

      Amazing dress #1

Although I'm a molecular neurobiologist, I have worked on drug discovery projects that use x-ray crystallography. I am also a huge fan of Rosalind Franklin. So this dress with the iconic photo was selected above more "obvious" choices. I was thrilled with it. It travels very well, fits perfectly (thanks to helpful discussions with Renee), has a classic design that looks good in any situation - but also has the potential for identifying fellow geeks! People in the know immediately comment (earning themselves imaginary bonus points with me) and a few have gone on to also get this dress. LOVE it. I already have a 2nd and am now planning my 3rd dress...

Thank you Caroline! So glad the dresses worked out well for you! :)

      Perfect hue and perfect fit

When ordering something like this I always run into two problems. First the colors. Either they are too faded/dull and blended or they are bright to the point of gaudy and cheap. The colors on this dress were, however, perfect. The dress looks like it was designed as a dress and not just a science themed gimmick.

The second issue is usually fit. In order to fit a wide variety of sizes the cut of a lot of vendors is one that is designed for a mythical 'average' person. This often results in a garment that does not fit anyone at all. The way this dress has been designed, as well as due to the choice of the material, actually allows for a perfect fit and one is that is quite comfortable.

Overall, this is a brilliant looking dress that simultaneously makes a statement and is comfortable. Honestly, I kind of wished there was a process to ask the designer whether they could do a bespoke design based on one my wife's experiments. I would highly recommend anyone who is considering this purchase to go for it. You will not be disappointed.

The design is attractive and it fits well. Very happy with the dress. Delivery to Sweden took a bit longer than anticipated due to postal service issues.

      Amazing dress!

The dress is really well designed and flattering. As I am 5'2, I asked for the dress to be shortened and it hits me just above the knee. The print also looks better in real life and the dress doesn't crease!
