One of my most exciting projects this year has certainly been the custom dress I designed for Liz Lee, VP of CyArk - they operate a non-profit organization which digitally scans (using lasers and point clouds) world cultural heritage sites before they are lost to natural disasters/ destroyed by humans. Their mission is to make sure all of these valuable historical sites will be preserved for future generations in a 3d library online. Learn more at Cyark.org
Samantha, a good friend and local customer of mine who worked for the company recommended me to Elizabeth.
Elizabeth was pitching in front of a bunch of investors for South by Southwest's (SXSW) Eco 2015 Place by Design - and she wanted something to wear that reflected her work, that would help her "kill it" onstage. (and guess what, she did- and WON the Data + Tech Category prize, yay! She liked the panel dresses and wanted to go with that classic style for the base.
After going through all of the images in their database, looking at tons of cultural heritage sites, I found this one of the Jerash ampitheater in Jordan. I also love me a good concentric circle print (a Shenova favorite)-- so I gravitated towards this one:
And a week later, the concept became a dress! It fit like a glove and she loved it.
I also designed her a blouse with two sided "Point Clouds" Print!
Here she is pitching onstage at South by Southwest. I'm so loving that backdrop...
In front of the judges:
Horray, she won! Here she is accepting the award, with my buddy Samantha (also in a custom Sea Creatures print dress I made for her a while back)
Congrats to Elizabeth and the entire CyArk team!
