Ever since I first designed the first Illumiscarf I've wanted to see it outdoors. Finally, last December, I got the chance when I visited Mount Shasta, California.
The mountain is located four hours north of San Francisco and is surrounded by beautiful evergreen forests. At over 14,000 ft the dormant volcano is a giant presence in the area and makes for some unpredictable weather. Luckily we had an amazing evening up at what's called 'The Bunny Flats' at 7,000 ft.
Karrie Snurre from Living Shasta Photography joined us and braved the freezing cold. Both her and our model were real troopers as we shot both the original Illumiscarf and the new Northern Lights Scarf with the beautiful Siskiyou wilderness and Mount Shasta as backdrops. I can't recommend Living Shasta Photography enough if you want to see some gorgeous mountain and astro photography.
The scarf itself is a super soft double layered long 72" fleece scarf. Inside the scarf are bright strings of LEDs to give a dazzling light display. Light strings are removable via a zipper closure and the two CR2032 batteries are easily replaceable. And yes, it's suitable for both men and women, so it makes a great gift for any astronomer or star gazer. Available here.
Do you have the Northern Lights where you are or do you travel to photograph it? Leave a comment with a link to your website below. so we can be inspired further.
