Today I'm happy to announce I've teamed up with Emmy-Winning Tech Expert Katie Linendoll to bring you the IllumiScarf; a truly comfortable and wearable scarf that lights up the night around you.
Katie reached out to me after wearing the Circuitry Print Dress on stage at the Teradata Conference and the SpaceTime Warp dress at ComicCon this year. I'm thrilled to be working with her for this project and so happy to see her wear the IllumiScarf.
Last year I made a wearable tech dress with LED and IBM Bluemix technology. It was a custom project for my friend Chung Hay Luk, a UX designer that helped me assemble and develop the piece.
The IllumiScarf is my solution to how to make wearable technology stylish. A single LED string inside the scarf makes the already beautiful constellation print into something magical. Walking around with it at night makes me feel like a celebrity as everyone wants to know what it is.
I already have several scarf designs planned and made, but for this launch we wanted to go with something that is both current and timeless. Below is a closeup of the star map and what it looks like with the blue LED on.
The scarves are one size fits all and handmade right here locally in Berkeley, Ca by local seamstresses! There are a limited numbers of scarves available for the holidays though, so order today if you plan to give it as a Christmas gift!
We've updated the design of the STEM Classic Constellation Dress!
